And here I position myself, out of the stream of life, watching it flow by with an increased interest for it. The groups of people that believe in one thing, the occasional rustling movement from the leaves of the potted plants. All of these little things make up the trivial life that we live, But we seldom stop to gaze into the simplicity of it all.
I sit here with the wind gushing down on me from the ceiling fan, tickling every part of my senses. While my eyes take in a few tattered plastic signs on the walls, my ears are filled with the sounds of the rotating fans. It reminds me of the times during British Malaya, which authors of old so often write in their books, where lives were lived under such strict guidelines. Even then, they observe their surroundings while they sit at the coffee shops which they are regulars at. Of course, being a start to the day which they would work under the British rule. Being in the present time doing something so similar to those portraits of memories gives me a feeling so nostalgic...
It feels very exciting how these few things remind me of other places that I have been to or other experiences that I have lived through. Albeit the atmosphere being something not up to the standard that it is supposed to be, I still find it very satisfying to look at.
Here I sit, at my college cafe, 1/3/06, Wednesday 9:28AM
What is it that gives you happiness then?
